At the forthcoming Venice Film Festival, Sylvester Stallone will be awarded the Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker Award.

The prize is typically dedicated to an artist who has left a mark on contemporary cinema. The presentation will include a sneak preview of sequences from The Expendables, written and directed by, and starring Stallone. The film co-stars Jason Statham, Jet Li and Mickey Rourke and is due for release in the US in April, 2010.

The Venice Film Festival runs September 2-12, 2009 and the award will be presented on September 12, 2009.
